ACCOMMODATION

An extensive range of accommodation to suit all budgets is available in and around the town of Wadi Musa, just outside the site of Petra, including excellent 5 and 4 star hotels. These have good international restaurants as well as conference, meetings and business facilities, swimming pools and health & fitness centres. Inside the town are several restaurants, which serve traditional cuisine.

It is always advisable to pre-book accommodation.

The "Petra by Night" tour, which begins at the Petra Visitor's Centre at around 8:30 p.m.(1630 GMT), takes visitors on a tour along a candle-lit path leading to the centre of the historic city.

A modest shrine commemorating the death of Aaron, brother of Moses, was built in the 13th century by the Mameluk Sultan, high atop Mount Aaron (Jabal Haroun) in the Sharah range.

More information on Petra and its other attractions can be obtained from the Visitors' Centre at the entrance to the site, while Petra Archaeological Museum, inside the site, houses a wide variety of finds from Petra.
